The Ship Models

Emily Malcolm, Curator of Transport & Technology at the Riverside Museum is going to talk about the recent publication on the Glasgow Museums’ Ship Model Collection. This ranges from elegant transatlantic liners to humble Clyde puffers, and from simple half-hull designs to magnificent display models. Some of the most famous ships launched on the Clyde are represented, such as RMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Hood, as well models of historically significant vessels such as the first European passenger steamer Comet and the world’s first commercial turbine-powered vessel King Edward. Come and find out more about the significance and history of the collection, based around Glasgow Museums’ new catalogue of the collection.

Come and join us for a look around Fairfield Heritage or have a cuppa from 5.30pm before the event starts at 6pm in Fairfield’s magnificent Boardroom.
