Govan Youth Information Project

April 13, 2011

Govan Youth Information Project continue to be involved in the Fairfield project. During the Emergency Repairs Contract the young people visited the building a number of times to learn about the plans for the restoration. They were then involved in a highly successful environmental “clean-up” day, tidying up the front of the building and unveiling the newly refurbished windows.

They have recently been back in the building to make a start on a photographic record of the Phase 2 works which they are going to create over the next eighteen months while work progresses.

Between the mid-nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the heyday of shipbuilding on the Clyde, Govan was at the centre of the industry.

Whatever your age or experience we can offer a range of learning opportunities. From education groups to community visits.

We are looking for volunteers. To find out more about the huge variety of opportunities to support us, go to Get Involved in the Heritage site.

There's lots going on at Fairfield. Find out what's on via our EVENTS section.

Once described as the jewel in the crown of Govan, the restored building provides a magnificent venue for all for all kinds of events.
